I used to take Benadryl, but as of late, it seems to aggrevate the restless leg problem.
Anyone else ever had that reaction with it?

I think Benadryl works well if you take 2 of them on a semi-empty stomach,

Yes! I used to be able to sleep just fine with Benadryl, but over the last couple of years it just makes me move my legs continuously. I absolutely can't lay still when I take it.

I voted for Ambien. Imovane works well for me too, although I don't stay asleep as long as I do with Ambien, which is a good thing if I'm only planning on four hours of sleep or so.

Melatonin gave me weird, vivid dreams. No restful sleep there.

I've tried Ambien. It puts me to sleep but that is it. I'll wake up and won't be able to get back to sleep. Xanax will definitely put me to sleep, but I don't want to do that every night. I can't imagine how quickly you would get addicted. BTW, if you take 1 mg. xanax a day how long would you be able to take it before you have problems withdrawing? Lunesta works on an emply stomach almost immediately, and I still wake up several times a night, but I'm able to go right back to sleep with this drug. I take 3 mg. and it has the same effect night after night and I've been taking it for 2 years now. One BIG drawback as you may have heard is the taste it leaves in your mouth. Metalic. Especially when you drink something like water. It wears off in time but you really have to get used to it.

Have you mentioned Ambien CR to your doctor? Many people find the extended release formulation overcomes the short action of regular Ambien.
